REMOVAL OF HEAVY METALS FROM SYNTHETIC ACIDIC MINE WATER USING RECYCLED AGGREGATES

چکیده

Acid mine drainage (AMD), a highly acidic and sulfate (SO42-)-rich solution, is an environmental concern related to the release of metal-containing wastewater from mining areas into environment. In this study, recycled aggregates (RA) produced concrete debris were used in treatment water contaminated with heavy metals. For model synthetic pH 2.31, SO42- iron (Fe) concentrations 5200 mg L-1 700 L-1, respectively, RA increased value 11.18 reduced Fe by 90.51% 100%, at RA/AMD ratio 100 after 300 minutes shaking room temperature batch experiments. The test results also showed that 100% copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), silver (Pb) cobalt (Co) removed time. This study demonstrates have significant potential neutralize acidity remove metals AMD, serious problem for ecological systems health.

Removal of Heavy Metals from Waste Water Using Water Hyacinth

-Water pollution has become one of the most serious problems of today’s civilization. In the last few years considerable amount of research has been done on the potential of aquatic macrophytes for pollutant removal or even as bio-indicators for heavy metals in aquatic ecosystems. Water hyacinth is one of the aquatic plant species successfully used for wastewater treatment. It is very efficient...

Removal of heavy metals from waste water using different biosorbents

The discharge of waste water containing heavy metals like Cr, Cd, Cu from tanneries, electroplating units, metal processing industry etc is the major cause for metal pollution which in turn causes adverse effects in the environment. The conventional methods available for removal of heavy metal are costly and also produce some toxic sludge. This has lead to the invention of new technology like b...

Selective removal of transition metals from acidic mine waters by novel consortia of acidophilic sulfidogenic bacteria

Two continuous-flow bench-scale bioreactor systems populated by mixed communities of acidophilic sulfate-reducing bacteria were constructed and tested for their abilities to promote the selective precipitation of transition metals (as sulfides) present in synthetic mine waters, using glycerol as electron donor. The objective with the first system (selective precipitation of copper from acidic m...
